During the pandemic, Jen Fuller-Allen, CEO of the J. Smith Young YMCA in Lexington, began sending an email each Friday to her Board of Directors. “I wanted to connect with our Board more regularly to share highlights from the week to better equip them to help tell our story,” Fuller-Allen said.

The YMCA of Catawba Valley was awarded the 2022 Eagle Award for Excellence in Fundraising by the North American YMCA Development Organization (NAYDO).

The Goldsboro Family YMCA’s new Community Corner is a housing and staging area for donations of shelf-stable foods and personal items. But it’s so much more than that, according to Casey Young, Director of Community Impact for the Y. It’s part of their mission work to feed those in need in their community, and it has provided a new opportunity for member engagement and volunteerism.

YMCAs in the western part of the state are working with each other and community partners to better serve the region’s Latinx residents. 

The J.F. Hurley Family YMCA in Salisbury partnered with Novant Health to provide COVID-19 vaccinations at this Rowan-Cabarrus YMCA branch initially through May and extended this through August.

While schools in Davidson County remain closed for in-person instruction, the E-Learning Academy at the J. Smith Young YMCA in Lexington is living its mission in an important way for seven homeless students from three families.

When the Coronavirus pandemic hit last spring, many in Nash and Edgecombe Counties lost jobs and were being forced to choose between buying medicine and buying food. The Harrison Family YMCA in Rocky Mount has been filling the gap to provide families with food since April.
