Casey Young, Director of Community Impact for the Goldsboro Family YMCA, was appointed to serve on the NC CACFP Advisory Council in November for a two-year term. The Council is being developed to promote leadership and collaboration between organizations participating in the Child and Adult Food Care Program (CACFP) and the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services.

Casey has been integral in the work of the Goldsboro Y’s growing food programs. The Goldsboro Y is a CACFP and Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) sponsor, both federal food programs, that enable the Y to support youth and families the Y serves, as well as other local organizations in providing meals to those in need in the community.

NC CACFP Council members work together by sharing successful strategies; identifying existing and needed local, regional, and state resources, program implementation, and training needs; and improving processes and communication within the state. The Council serves a critical role in improving the work of CACFP program participants.
