The YMCA of Northwest North Carolina has announced the appointment of Donna Rodgers as its next President and CEO, making her the first woman to hold the position in the association’s history.

Rodgers has served as Interim CEO since May 2026 and brings more than 22 years of leadership experience with the organization. Since joining the YMCA in 2004 as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, she has held several senior leadership positions, most recently serving as Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer.

“Donna has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to the YMCA of Northwest North Carolina, our staff, and the communities we serve,” said Ashley Kohlrus, Chair of the YMCA’s Board of Directors. “She brings the experience and leadership this role demands, a deep understanding of the organization, and a genuine passion for our mission.”

Her appointment follows a comprehensive national search conducted in partnership with YMCA of the USA, the North Carolina Alliance of YMCAs, and a committee of YMCA board and community leaders.

Throughout her tenure, Rodgers has guided significant organizational growth, financial sustainability initiatives, and major capital projects. Her leadership includes securing more than $6 million in emergency funding during the COVID-19 pandemic and helping finance the acquisition of the Robinhood Road Family YMCA.

A Certified Public Accountant, Rodgers holds a bachelor's degree in Accounting from Virginia Tech and was recognized as an Organizational Leader by YMCA of the USA in 2021.

“I am deeply honored to be selected as the next CEO of this great organization,” said Rodgers. “I look forward to working with our amazing staff team and volunteers to further deepen our impact in all the communities we serve.”

Rodgers will lead an association serving communities across eight counties in Northwest North Carolina.
