North Carolina’s YMCAs have banded together to support our YMCAs in the western part of the state in the wake of Hurricane Helene so that they can, in turn, support their devastated communities and aid recovery efforts.

When disaster strikes, the YMCA is uniquely positioned to mobilize quickly, thanks to its deep roots in local communities. As North Carolina faces the devastating impacts of Hurricane Helene, communities are grappling with displaced families, damaged homes and critical infrastructure in need of repair. 

n 2020, YMCA of the Triangle and Duke Family Medicine (DFM) began a collaborative journey to address physician awareness, patient education and utilization of community programming to better support health intervention efforts for people with pre-diabetes or at risk for pre-diabetes.

The YMCA of Western North Carolina recently announced a strategic partnership with Hopscotch Primary Care to improve the lives of older adults throughout the region.
