Imagine you are a single mother whose husband passed away, you’re working full-time but reliant on bus transportation to get around, and your mother who has diabetes is living with you and your three children in a rented apartment.

This fall the YMCA of Greensboro launched 500 Fist Bumps—a public health initiative delivered through youth and recreational sports programs—at its Mary Perry Ragsdale Family YMCA; the Y plans to roll the initiative out association wide in 2024. 

World Mental Health Day was yesterday, October 10th. The goal was to raise awareness of mental health issues and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health. 

Congratulations to several North Carolina YMCA staff who were named YMCA of the USA Anti-Hunger Heroes for their work to support healthy food access in their communities! We’re especially excited to recognize them during Hunger Action Month.
