On December 1, 2023, Medicaid expansion went into effect across our state. Years in the making, the change enabled people ages 18 through 64 with higher incomes who previously didn’t quality for health coverage to gain access to health insurance through Medicaid. Access to health care is among the social determinants of health that play a significant role on health, well-being and quality of life.

The Alliance is collaborating with One Pass™ and the UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of North Carolina to provide access to NC YMCAs for UnitedHealthcare Medicaid members to move us closer to our statewide Strategic Plan priority to improve the health of North Carolinians.

Effective January 1, 2024, eligible UnitedHealthcare Medicaid members 18 years of age and older that are eligible for One Pass™ may join any Y in North Carolina at no cost to them. Eligible members also may enroll up to five family members from the same household on their Y membership, in accordance with family or household membership policies at local NC YMCAs.

How to Enroll in Y Membership

UnitedHealthcare Medicaid members eligible for One Pass™ can go to www.youronepass.com to generate a code for Y membership; if adding additional family members, the primary One Pass™ account holder can add the family members in their One Pass™ portal or by calling the member support number found on the member’s health plan member ID card. Each family member will be provided with their own, unique One Pass™ member code.

To enroll in a Y family membership, UnitedHealthcare Medicaid primary members will bring their One Pass™ member code, and all the family One Pass™ members’ codes, to the Y.

North Carolina Ys look forward to welcoming UnitedHealthcare Medicaid members through One Pass™! The Y offers new ways to connect youth and adults with their potential, purpose and community!
