Newsweek announced America’s Best Summer Camps for 2023; five NC YMCA residential camps were recognized among the 500 named.

The survey, conducted by Plant-A Insights Group, looked at all summer camps nationwide and evaluated the camps that had the highest staff to camper ratio with staff who are passionate about the camp experience. There was a four-part evaluation:

  • Part 1: Peer-to-peer survey
  • Part 2: Social media reviews and social media engagement/activity
  • Part 3: Peer survey to more than 15k parents (4k camps were reviewed at this stage)
  • Part 4: Final camps were evaluated by address, accredited bodies and press coverage to see if there were any legal issues being addressed at the camp

The results included 114,000 total reviews as well as an online panel.

Developing resilient, strong, caring confident youth -- and having a whole lot of fun at the same time is what YMCA overnight camps are all about. Kudos to these camps for this recognition!
