One year ago, Hurricane Helene devastated western North Carolina, leaving homes, businesses and communities in crisis. In the storm’s aftermath, YMCAs across the state joined together to deliver truckloads of supplies, and YMCAs in the region stepped forward as pillars of relief, recovery and resilience, providing essential resources to support those in need.

The NC Alliance of YMCAs and the YMCA of the Triangle are collaborating with 12 other YMCA state alliances and YMCAs working together to scale the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) and improve participant access, engagement and outcomes. 

The North Carolina Alliance of YMCAs has partnered with Ambetter Health of North Carolina Inc. (Ambetter) to provide Ambetter members with a complimentary YMCA membership, starting January 1, 2025.  

The NC Alliance of YMCAs and YMCA of the Triangle hosted a Health Innovations Roundtable November 4, 2024, at the Southeast Raleigh YMCA, bringing together Dr.

n 2020, YMCA of the Triangle and Duke Family Medicine (DFM) began a collaborative journey to address physician awareness, patient education and utilization of community programming to better support health intervention efforts for people with pre-diabetes or at risk for pre-diabetes.

The YMCA of Western North Carolina recently announced a strategic partnership with Hopscotch Primary Care to improve the lives of older adults throughout the region.

Five students from three high schools Onslow County participated in the Connecting the Dots: Teen Mental Health First Aid Ambassador’s Retreat in Wilmington June 20-22 at UNC-Wilmington as part of the New River YMCA’s work around supporting teen mental health through the Alliance’s grant.
